Total Effective Equipment Performance (TEEP) measures equipment productivity across the full calendar period by multiplying Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by loading, the proportion of calendar time scheduled for production.
The calculation is TEEP = OEE × (scheduled production time ÷ calendar time). OEE captures availability, performance and quality losses within scheduled production. TEEP extends that assessment to include unscheduled hours. Both measures require consistent equipment boundaries and time-classification rules.
For example, assume a machine is scheduled for 120 hours in a 168-hour week and achieves 80% OEE. Loading is 71.4%, giving TEEP of 57.1%. If the schedule increases to 144 hours while OEE remains at 80%, TEEP rises to 68.6%. The increase reflects additional scheduled time; performance within scheduled hours is unchanged.
Operations teams use TEEP when evaluating additional shifts or equipment purchases. A low TEEP value identifies calendar-time capacity for investigation. It does not establish that unused hours are commercially recoverable. In the example, using the remaining 48 hours would depend on demand and the resources needed to operate the machine.
